2008 Snow Cave Training
The snow cave training was better than expected considering we were unable to use the snow cat to get up into Mineral Basin where we have traditionally held the training.

2008 Winter Overnighter

Garmin GPS and Lithium Batteries: A Reader’s Follow-Up Response
New lithium (non-rechargeable) batteries have a slightly higher voltage than "normal" alkaline batteries or recharcheable NiMH batteries. This higher voltage causes some Garmin GPS receiver models to shut down. Here is one reader's response to a recent article on the subject.
2008 Avalanche Training
We had a fantastic turnout for a superb annual avalanche training session. Friday night, 11 January, we met at the Northeast Teller Fire Station for a classroom session. Saturday, 12 January, we met at the office and proceeded to Glen Cove on the north side of Pikes Peak for a day of playing in the snow and learning about avalanche search techniques. Kudos go to Mitch Walma for planning and executing a superb training event that got us all prepared to participate in avalanche rescue operations.
